Colorimetric analysis for calcium determination
- Kit volume: 80 ml
- Method: Two-reagent differential at 635 nm
- Limit of linearity: 180 ml/l
- Limit of detection: 2.0 mg/l (ppm)
Advantages
- Stable two-reagent liquid until the expiration date
- Ready-to-use dedicated reagent
- Liquid calibrator included in the kit
Calcium is present in wine at concentrations of 6 to 165 mg/L. Instability due to calcium tartrate appears at 4 to 7 months of fermentation.
Calcium in the sample reacts with 2,7-[bis(2-arsonophe- nylazo)]-1,8-dihydroxynaphthalene-3,6-disulfonic acid (Ar- senazo III). The color increase is directly proportional to the calcium concentration of the sample.

Testimonials
"Admeo shows up for the wine industry"
SPICA measures everything we need to measure, and then some!We love how easy SPICA is to use. It is such a gift how well it handles free sulfur dioxide and total sulfur dioxide, especially since those are a large percentage of the tests we run. It has been a complete game changer considering how many samples we run each year.We appreciate that the people at Admeo answer the phone and help us right away. It means a lot to us how amazing and considerate everyone is. Admeo shows up for the wine industry so well, we never feel like a side hustle like we have with other companies. We feel how much Admeo and BioSystems genuinely care about SPICA and support us, which is why we recommend other wineries get a SPICA too!

"I would highly recommend Admeo’s products to others in the industry."
I would highly recommend Admeo’s products to others in the industry. They are user friendly and efficient, making the time in the lab more valuable. ONX wanted to outfit our lab to its full potential, especially being a Custom Crush program. The FLASH2 and Y15 give us the opportunity to create a new revenue source that wasn’t possible before. In 2025, ONX’s Lab program increased nearly 60% in revenue. With the Y15 and Flash2 both being automated systems, I can load the machines and work on something else while they are running, making my time in the lab more efficient. We test our wine lots every month to make sure they are stable and where they need to be chemically speaking. By integrating Admeo’s products into our lab, we are able to cut down on costs and get results faster. Admeo’s support is great! I feel like I can always reach out and receive a prompt and valuable solution to any question I might have.

"Admeo has great service. They’re always there to help us"
The Y15 is definitely the most important piece of equipment we have in our lab, it keeps us rolling during harvest and throughout the year. We have used the Y15 for about 6 years. Pre-fermentation, we rely on it to check PAN and ammonia to calculate YAN. The Y15 makes fermentation tracking simple, consistent, and accurate. We know exactly where we’re at, and that lets us make decisions confidently. We use it for monthly acetic acid and free sulfite checks. We make a late harvest fortified wine and being able to dilute and measure sugar up to 150 g/L has been great. It's a huge help staying on top of RS. Each morning, we collect our samples and once loaded in the Y15, it runs independently. We set it and forget it and go back out to the cellar so this helps us multitask. It is straightforward, after a couple hours of training, I trust a seasonal lab tech to run it confidently. Admeo has great service. They’re always there to help us and are easy to work with.
